Modular Production in Practice: From MTP to OpenDCS

In this talk, we will explore how Module Type Package (MTP) enables more flexible and modular automation architectures in the process industry.

Using practical industry examples, we will demonstrate how standardized module integration can simplify engineering, reduce commissioning time, and make it easier to adapt production systems to changing operational needs.

Building on this modular approach, the session will also introduce the concept of OpenDCS and how software-defined automation architectures can help manufacturers overcome challenges related to brownfield integration, vendor lock-in and heterogeneous system landscapes.
The presentation will show how modular process modules, standardized interfaces and open orchestration concepts can create more scalable, future-proof and interoperable production environments.
